Meet the coordinator

Kia ora, I'm Bev. It's been full on with rounds 1, 2, & 3 already over. So far all teams are getting in there and having loads of laughs and lots of fun.
I've handed over the ropes to Suzanne & Alan (Hogey) Hogarth for a run with Round 4 which has been 'charging' now for three weeks. Patience have already been tested with courts not booked, one week postponed, a missing team and a bar security rack that won't close!!! It's all part of the test and Suzanne is holding up well.
As you may not know, Alan is a 'Personal Trainer' - now wouldn't we all like one of those! Alan is all over the place at the moment and is currently doing work privately as well as in our community with Te Hauora - Turanga Health. If you are serious about your sport - what ever it may be, give Alan a call. He can be contacted at:

Here's how it works...
There are 5 rounds planned for this year. There are 5 weeks in each round. Games are once a week on Thursdays. Each team has 4 players. Each team grades their players from 1 - 4 with 1 being experienced and 4 less experienced. Any level of players are welcome.
Time frame: Each player plays for 12 minutes - non stop. The clock stops for 1 minute only at the change over period. Scoring: 1 point a rally (regardless of who serves). No lets but strokes are allowed for safety. One score sheet per team is used, with points accumulating for the team. The team with the highest points at the end of the round wins.
Rules: After one player has served 5 times in a row, it's usually because their opponent is less experienced. At this point it is a hand over to the other opponent to serve. This allows a more even game. Ranked players can play 'up' but higher ranked players should not play 'down'. Ensure that there is at least 1 or 2 female players. Teams who fail to turn up on the night without notifying the coordinator forfeit 25 points to their opponent.
Our Sponsors Our main sponsor for Business House Squash for 2003 is Kevin Hollis Glass who will be sponsoring a cash prize at the end of the year of $400.00 - A big thank you to Craig who has supported Business House continuously over the past 3 years.
Round 3 and the two divisions are working out well. The Gisborne Herald team that were led by Catherine, really got into it and took away the winning prize in their division - well done! The Gisborne Hospital team led by Chris took away the winning prize for their division for the second round in a row - congratulations to both teams. |
